Discovering That There Is Always More to Learn
Parrot knows an extraordinary amount about the forest. He knows which trees grow the tallest, where the sweetest berries can be found, and exactly when the morning sun first touches the mountain. In fact, he's so certain of his knowledge that he's decided to write The Grand Guide to Absolutely Everything. When Snake asks if his book includes the wonderful things happening beneath the forest floor, Parrot laughs. What could possibly be more interesting than everything he can already see from the treetops? But Snake has a few surprises waiting for him down below.
Parrot's Grand Guide to Absolutely Everything follows a very confident bird as he discovers that knowing a lot doesn't mean knowing it all. As Snake introduces him to hidden roots, mysterious tunnels, and tiny creatures living beneath fallen leaves, Parrot realizes that his view from above has only shown him part of the world. At first, admitting this feels uncomfortable. But as his curiosity grows, so does his appreciation for everything Snake knows. Perhaps the grandest guide of all is one that makes room for someone else's discoveries.
With playful humor, surprising discoveries, and a character whose confidence occasionally gets the better of him, the story offers a refreshing perspective on humility. It encourages children to celebrate their abilities without believing they must always be right, recognize the knowledge and contributions of others, and understand that admitting what we don't know is a strength rather than a weakness. Parrot discovers that learning becomes far more exciting when we make room for other voices alongside our own.
